Star punch vs. cylindrical punch — what's the difference? The standard cylindrical punch creates a single round channel — airflow is concentrated at one point. The star punch creates a cross-shaped opening with multiple branches — airflow is spread across a larger surface area from the cap, which promotes a more balanced draw on densely rolled cigars. A technique appreciated by connoisseurs who want an ample flow without using a guillotine.

Lighter delivered empty — store-bought butane refill required. Wait 2 minutes after refilling before first use.

Alistair Pack vs. Alistair lighter alone: the standalone Alistair lighter already includes an integrated punch and needle. The Pack adds three coordinated accessories — elongated ashtray, cigar cutter, and separate star punch — to cover the entire cigar ritual in one coordinated set. The difference is moving from a pocket lighter to a complete tasting set.

Frequently asked questions

What is a star punch and how does it differ from a cylindrical punch?
The standard cylindrical punch creates a single round channel — airflow is concentrated at one point on the cap. The star punch creates a cross-shaped opening with multiple branches — airflow is spread across a larger surface, promoting a more balanced draw on densely rolled cigars. It is a technique favored by connoisseurs who want an ample flow without using a guillotine.
What is the difference between the Alistair Pack and the standalone Alistair lighter?
The standalone Alistair lighter already includes an integrated punch and needle — it is a complete tool for travel. The Pack adds three coordinated accessories: elongated ashtray, cigar cutter, and separate star punch. The difference is moving from a pocket lighter to a complete tasting set.
Is the lighter delivered with gas?
No — delivered empty for transport regulation reasons. Butane can be purchased at any tobacco shop or department store. Wait 2 minutes after refilling before first use.
What is the difference between the 3 colors of the pack?
There is no technical difference — the 4 pieces have identical functionality across all three finishes. Forest Green: natural and distinctive. Carbon Black: sober and universal. Flaming Yellow: vivid and easy to spot. The choice is purely aesthetic. Each color exists in Classic version (cigar cutter in silver finish) or Steel Edition (cigar cutter matching the pack color).
