J.Edgar Cigar Humidor | 80 Cigars Cedar Drawers

Spanish Cedar Drawers & Dividers

The J.Edgar adopts a rare vertical architecture in the world of desktop humidors: a compact cubic format of 24 × 24 × 24 cm that stacks storage levels rather than spreading them out. Its glass front door offers a panoramic view of the entire collection without opening. Its Spanish cedar drawers with integrated dividers allow you to organize up to 80 cigars by brand, format, or origin — with identification for each zone. The analog hygrometer integrated into the top lid and the included humidifier complete a ready-to-use setup. Glossy mahogany lacquered exterior finish, golden hinges, full cedar interior.

🪵 Spanish cedar — drawers, walls, dividers

The entire interior structure of the J.Edgar is made of Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata) — walls, bottom, drawers, and dividers. This choice is not just aesthetic: cedar has natural hygroscopic properties that passively regulate humidity in each drawer. It absorbs excess when humidity rises and releases it when the air dries out — a natural balance that complements the humidifier.

Its aromatic terpenes gradually migrate into the stored cigars and enrich their organoleptic complexity over the long term. Cedar also protects the collection against the tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne). The drawer structure ensures that each level benefits from this microclimate — unlike a single, undivided space.

Glass door & divided drawers — the humidor that organizes itself

The J.Edgar is based on a simple conviction: a collector who manages multiple brands and formats needs a humidor that organizes as much as it preserves. The glass front door reveals all levels at a glance — no need to open to find what you're looking for. The cedar drawers with dividers allow you to partition the collection by brand, format, or aging stage.

The 24 × 24 × 24 cm cubic format is a rare balance: 80 cigars in a volume that fits on a desk corner. The glossy mahogany lacquered finish with golden hinges makes it an object that you proudly display — a statement piece as much as a preservation tool.

Setup — 4 steps

1
Seasoning (24 to 48 hours): before the first loading, place a container of distilled water in the closed humidor. The new cedar will absorb moisture throughout the structure — walls and drawers. Without this step, it would absorb moisture from your cigars as soon as you load them.
2
Humidifier filling: fill the humidifier with distilled water only — never tap water. Wipe off any excess surface water before repositioning it in the box.
3
Drawer organization: use the dividers to define a zone by brand, format, or origin. Identify each zone to immediately find what you are looking for without fumbling through your collection.
How do the dividers in the drawers work?
The integrated dividers in each drawer divide the space into distinct zones that you can identify by brand, format, or origin. This organization allows you to immediately find the desired cigar without searching through the collection and without moving other cigars. Group your Cohibas, Montecristos, or Romeo y Julietas in dedicated zones, or organize by aromatic profile — light together, powerful together — to limit aromatic transfers between very different families.
Where is the hygrometer on the J.Edgar?
The analog hygrometer is integrated into the top lid of the J.Edgar — visible from the top of the box. It provides a permanent reading of the humidity level inside without requiring the front door to be opened. Complement this reading with visual consultation through the glass door for daily control of your collection without any intervention on the box.
Why perform seasoning before the first loading?
The J.Edgar features several new Spanish cedar drawers — a particularly significant surface of naturally dry wood. Without prior seasoning, the entire structure would massively absorb moisture from your cigars upon first loading, drying them out in a few days. Seasoning involves placing a container of distilled water in the closed humidor for 24 to 48 hours. All the cedar stabilizes — walls, drawers, and dividers — and thereafter becomes a natural hygroscopic regulator.
Does the glass front door preserve humidity well?
Yes — the glass door with its golden hinges is designed to seal the box tightly. It allows you to admire your collection from the outside without ever opening it, thus preserving the accumulated internal humidity. If you notice a regular and unexplained drop in humidity, check the condition of the door's peripheral seal. Combine viewing through the glass with the hygrometer reading on the lid for complete control without intervention.
How to maintain the included humidifier?
Only use distilled water — never tap water, which gradually calcifies the humidifier and reduces its effectiveness. Refill as soon as the hygrometer drops below 65% relative humidity. The usual frequency is every 2 to 4 weeks under normal conditions, more often in winter with central heating. Always wipe off any excess surface water after refilling to avoid stagnant water deposits.
Can cigars of different strengths be stored in the J.Edgar?
Yes — this is precisely the advantage of drawers with dividers: separate mild profiles from powerful profiles on different levels to limit aromatic transfers between very dissimilar families. Spanish cedar acts as a natural aromatic buffer between drawers. For very heterogeneous collections (Connecticut alongside Maduro), dedicated drawers for each family remain the most rigorous solution.
Is the J.Edgar a good gift for a cigar enthusiast?
The J.Edgar is particularly suitable as a cigar gift for an enthusiast who collects several brands: front glass door, cedar drawers with identification dividers, integrated analog hygrometer, included humidifier. The glossy mahogany lacquer finish with golden hinges gives it an immediate visual presence. Combined with a torch lighter and a cigar cutter, it makes a complete and memorable cigar gift set — for birthdays, Father's Day, or retirement.
