Wooden baseMagnetic levitationIndoor use

A plant floating above a piece of furniture, with no visible attachments or supports: that is the illusion created by the TIBET levitating pot. Its secret lies in a square wooden base with softened corners, measuring 15 x 15 cm and 4.5 cm in height, which houses magnetic technology. Placed above, an 8 cm faceted pot holds itself in mid-air at a levitation height of 1.5 to 1.7 cm. This small gap is enough to create a striking effect: the plant seems suspended in zero gravity, as if resting on a cushion of air. The pot, made of silicone according to manufacturer specifications, features a geometric shape whose flat faces catch the light and resemble a cut crystal; in our photos, it has a veined appearance that matches the wood of the base. The TIBET is delivered without a plant: it is up to you to choose the small indoor plant that will inhabit it. On a desk, an entryway console, or a living room shelf, it is an object of curiosity that unfailingly catches the eye and sparks questions.

The principle

How can a plant float?

Magnetic levitation relies on a well-known force: two magnets placed face-to-face with their identical poles repel each other. In this type of object, the base contains an powered magnetic device, and the pot also contains a magnetized element. The repulsion between the two compensates for the weight of the pot, which maintains balance above the base at a distance of 1.5 to 1.7 cm.

Simple repulsion between magnets would be unstable: the pot would slide to the side. This is why these devices generally combine magnetization with an electronic stabilization system housed in the base, which is why it must be plugged in using the cable visible in our photos. The wood, for its part, dresses the set in a warm, natural material that lets the technology fade into the background in favor of the visual effect.

The TIBET plays on the contrast between the simplicity of its materials and the magic of its effect. The square base with rounded corners, resting on small feet, adopts a sleek style akin to Scandinavian objects. The polyhedral pot, with its sharp edges, adds a graphic and contemporary note. In our photos, it holds a tuft of green grasses with yellow ears in a bright, cream-toned living room.

Choose a plant with light foliage to accentuate the floating impression: a small succulent, a miniature cactus, or an air plant. The gap that separates the pot from the base then becomes the true subject of the composition.

Setup

1
Place the base on a flat, stable surface indoors, then plug it in using its cable.
2
Prepare the pot by installing a small, light, indoor-appropriate plant inside it, away from the base.
3
Place the pot above the center of the base while holding it with both hands, then release it gently when you feel it find its balance.
4
To water, first remove the pot from the base, water it elsewhere, let it drain, then place it back in levitation.
Good to know: the TIBET is sold without a plant. The package includes the wooden base and the faceted pot; the plant visible in our photos is for staging purposes only.
Our advice: choose a small, low-water plant, such as a succulent or an air plant. The lighter the pot and plant combination, the easier it is to find the levitation point and keep it stable over time.

Precautions for use: object reserved for indoor use, protected from humidity. Never pour water over the base: always water the pot away from it. The base generates a magnetic field: keep it away from bank cards, magnetic media, and sensitive devices; people with implanted medical devices should seek their doctor's advice before use. Keep out of reach of young children.

Frequently asked questions

How does the TIBET pot levitation work?
The wooden base contains magnetic technology, and the pot also includes a magnetized element. The two repel each other, allowing the pot to remain suspended in mid-air at a height of 1.5 to 1.7 cm above the base. To prevent the pot from sliding off to the side, this type of device generally uses electronic stabilization integrated into the base, which is why a connection cable is present. There are no invisible wires or hidden tricks: it is a very real physical phenomenon made possible by precise tuning between the pot and its base.
Is the plant included?
No. The TIBET is sold without a plant, as indicated on the manufacturer's sheet. The tuft of grass visible in our photos is only there to illustrate the final look. This leaves you the freedom to compose your own decor: a small succulent, a miniature cactus, an air plant, or any other small indoor plant. Choose it based on the light in the room and your watering habits. A garden center or decor store typically offers a wide choice of mini-plants suitable for an 8 cm diameter pot.
Which plant should I choose for a levitating pot?
The golden rule is lightness. The pot measures 8 cm per side and 4 cm in height: it is therefore suitable for small plants with little soil. Succulents, miniature cacti, and air plants, which require very little substrate, are wise choices. They also require little watering, which limits handling. Avoid tall plants or those with very dense foliage, which weigh down the assembly and can unbalance the pot. Finally, remember to distribute the soil evenly so that the weight remains well-centered.
How do I water the plant without damaging the base?
Never pour water directly over the base, which contains electrical components. The correct method is to remove the pot by holding it with both hands, water it elsewhere—for example, over a sink—then let it drain for a few minutes. Wipe the outside of the pot before placing it back in levitation. Water sparingly: excess water weighs down the pot and can alter its balance. For air plants, a light misting done away from the base is usually sufficient.
Can the pot fall?
When properly positioned, the pot stays in balance above the base. However, it may fall if the overall weight is too much, if the plant is poorly centered, if the base is on an inclined surface, or if the power supply is interrupted. Therefore, place the TIBET on a flat and stable piece of furniture, away from high-traffic areas and strong drafts. Before unplugging the base, always remove the pot by hand. In case of imbalance, simply start the setup process again by positioning the pot carefully in the center, without rushing.
Where should I install the TIBET in my home?
The TIBET is designed for indoor use only. It naturally finds its place on a desk, an entryway console, a bookshelf, a nightstand, or a living room piece of furniture. Choose a location near an outlet that is flat and stable, where the plant will receive the light it needs. Avoid bathrooms and damp rooms, as well as the immediate vicinity of devices sensitive to magnetic fields. To maximize the visual effect, place it at eye level or in front of a light-colored wall, which will highlight the empty space under the pot.
What are the exact dimensions?
The wooden base measures 15 cm in length, 15 cm in width, and 4.5 cm in height. The pot measures 8 x 8 cm and 4 cm in height. In operation, it floats at a distance of 1.5 to 1.7 cm above the base. The assembly thus occupies a small footprint, comparable to that of a small book laid flat, making it easy to install on a desk or shelf. The total height then depends on the chosen plant, as this is not provided with the product.
