IP68 certification is the highest level of waterproofing for portable equipment: total protection against dust (index 6) and water immersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes (index 8). For a cigar case, this means complete protection in the rain, in a wet bag, or in tropical conditions.
The interior egg crate foam (convoluted foam) absorbs vibrations and holds each cigar by gentle friction — soft enough not to mark the wrapper, firm enough to prevent any movement. It is cut into two half-shells that envelop the cigars when the case is closed.

IP68 — what it concretely means: The IP rating is read in two digits. The first (6) = total protection against dust — no particles can enter. The second (8) = waterproof to immersion in fresh water up to 1.5 m for 30 minutes. For the KEVO 5: rain, humid covered patio, soaked bag, drop in a puddle — no risk to your cigars. Only prolonged immersion or in salt water exceeds the limits of the certification.
Boveda pack for long trips: The egg crate foam retains residual humidity suitable for trips under 24 hours. For trips longer than 24 to 48 hours, insert a Boveda 69% size S pack into the bottom of the KEVO 5 before loading your cigars. It maintains stable humidity for several weeks without refilling, within the confined space of the case.

Beyond 24 to 48 hours, add a Boveda pack and transfer your cigars to a humidor at your destination. The IP68 protects against external water — it is not an indicator of internal humidification.
