Distressed-effect cowhide, left unlined
So-called crazy horse leather is cowhide treated with oils and waxes, then worked on the surface to create a distressed look. When folded or pressed by a finger, the oils shift and the color lightens locally; over time, these nuances blend into a unique patina. This is precisely what gives the envelope flap its character: the fold line lightens and takes shape with every opening.
The absence of a lining is a deliberate choice. It keeps the envelope very slim, flexible and lightweight, and lets the leather show its natural texture inside and out. There is no glue or fabric that could peel away over the years: the sleeve ages as one piece, like a traditional leather good.

Tip: As the interior is unlined, wipe the screen occasionally with a microfiber cloth to remove any leather fibers, especially during the first few weeks. On the outside, rub small marks with your palm to redistribute the oils, and condition the leather once or twice a year with a colorless balm.

Precautions: the flap closure incorporates a magnet. As a precaution, people with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator should avoid placing the sleeve right next to their device, for example pressed against their chest. Also keep the sleeve away from magnetic-stripe cards, and do not store a bank card against the flap. The sleeve is not waterproof; natural leather may show slight variations in color.

Is laser engraving really free?
Yes. Like every piece in the Voyageur Collection, the PLI sleeve comes with a first laser engraving free. You can add initials, a first name, a meaningful date or a short motto. On a leather envelope, the engraving takes on the look of a seal: it discreetly marks the item and then develops a patina at the same pace as the leather. This turns a beautiful sleeve into a one-of-a-kind piece, especially appreciated as a gift. If you're unsure about the wording or layout, our team is available to advise you before we make it.
How do I add a logo or additional engraving?
The first engraving is free. To add more, go to the “Engraving options” box just below the Add to Cart button and select the option you want: “Add my logo” (€14.90 per item) to engrave a company, club or event logo, or “Add an additional text area” (€5.90 per item) for a second text. The option is automatically added to your cart, once for each item ordered. For a logo, we'll ask you to email us the file after placing your order: for a sharp result, use a vector file or a high-resolution image that's simple and has good contrast. Why is the interior unlined?
It's a design choice. Without a lining, the envelope stays very slim — approximately 8 mm — and more flexible, allowing it to fit closely around your device and slip easily into a bag. The leather ages as one piece, with no fabric or glue that could come loose over the years. The inner side of the cowhide leather is left natural: it protects your device from everyday scratches. During the first few weeks, a few fibers may settle on the screen; simply wipe them away with a microfiber cloth. If you prefer a velvet interior, the Voyageur FOLIANT zippered sleeve offers that option.
Is the magnetic closure safe?
The flap stays closed with a magnet built into the thickness of the leather, invisible from the outside. It keeps the sleeve securely closed in transit while opening with a single motion. Recent tablets and laptops are designed to work alongside magnets, which are used in many accessories. However, as a precaution, avoid slipping magnetic-stripe cards against the flap. People with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator should avoid keeping the sleeve pressed against their chest, in line with standard recommendations regarding magnets.
How do I care for crazy horse leather?
This cowhide leather, nourished with oils and waxes, requires little maintenance. Small marks generally fade with a rub of the palm: the heat makes the oils migrate and evens out the surface. Once or twice a year, apply a colorless nourishing balm in a thin layer to the outside, let it penetrate, then buff. Avoid treating the unlined interior, which must remain dry and clean since it touches the screen. Prohibit household products, excess water, and direct heat. Over time, the fold of the flap lightens and then blends into a patina that gives the pouch all its charm.
Is the device included with the pouch?
No. The Voyageur PLI pouch is sold alone: the tablet or computer visible in the photos are used solely to illustrate the size and are not included. You receive the envelope in aged-effect cowhide leather, cut for large tablets, with its magnetic flap and small inner pocket. Laser engraving is added if you request it, the first one being free. To carry the pouch with your documents, our work bags and our office accessories complete the set with the same material requirements.
