Designer lighting, pendant lights & lamps — illuminate your interior with character

A light fixture isn't just a source of light — it's the piece that sets the tone for an entire room. A bold pendant light above a table, a sculptural lamp in a living room, a discreet wall light in an entryway: each format has its role. At Atelier Atypique, we have selected pieces that make a difference — design, durable, and crafted to last well beyond trends.

The different types of designer lighting

Each space has its lighting needs. Here's how to choose the right format based on use and room:

🔵
Ceiling light & industrial chandelier
Main lighting for a room. Articulated models like the Branching Bubble bring sculpture and light in a single object.
🕯️
Table lamp
Creates a warm and localized ambiance. Perfect on a bedside table, desk, or console. Combines with main lighting for layered light.
🌿
Floor lamp
Adds height and verticality to a living room or hallway. Ideal for reading or creating a luminous zone without electrical work.

Installation tip: For a pendant light above a table, the base of the fixture should be between 70 and 90 cm above the surface. Too high, the light becomes diffused; too low, it obstructs the view.

What lighting style for which interior?

⚙️
Industrial
Raw metal, exposed filaments, matte black. Ideal for lofts, workshops, open kitchens.
🌸
Scandinavian
Light wood, clean lines, soft light. Perfect for bedrooms, minimalist living rooms.
🏛️
Art Deco
Brass, blown glass, symmetry. For elegant and revisited classic interiors.
🔮
Contemporary design
Organic forms, mixed materials. For interiors that seek a unique piece.
🌱
Natural & bohemian
Rattan, wicker, linen. Brings warmth and texture to soft and organic spaces.
Mid-century modern
Geometric shapes, pop colors, metal. Inspired by the 50s-60s, timeless.

Materials and quality — what distinguishes designer lighting

The lifespan of a light fixture depends as much on its materials as its design. Here's what we prioritize in our selection:

Materials of our lighting fixtures
  • Powder-coated metal — heat and shock resistant, uniform and durable finish
  • Solid brass — natural patina over time, timeless premium aesthetic
  • Hand-blown glass — each piece is slightly unique, soft and warm light diffusion
  • Natural wood — brings warmth and texture, compatible with all interior styles
  • Brushed aluminum — lightweight, modern, perfect for contemporary geometric shapes
  • Rattan & wicker — natural and durable, create a muted and warm light diffusion

Inspired by the great names of lighting design

Our selection of lighting fixtures follows the tradition of great international design. The pieces we offer are inspired by or pay homage to the creators who redefined lighting as an art form:

Achille Castiglioni
Innovative marriage of materials and forms — his creations like the Arco lamp prove that utility and beauty are not mutually exclusive.
Philippe Starck
The dramatic and the unexpected at the service of everyday life. His avant-garde lighting fixtures changed our perception of utilitarian objects.
French designer, a graduate of ENSCI. Her poetic and functional style explores organic and airy forms — including the Vertigo pendant light.
Tom Dixon
Industrial materials transformed into raw works of art — his light fixtures are both sculpture and light source.
Isamu Noguchi
The sculptural dimension of lighting — his paper lamps merge Eastern and Western aesthetics in a soft and welcoming form.
Poul Henningsen
The PH concept: diffuse soft and balanced light, without glare. A revolution in the design of functional lighting.

How to choose your designer lighting?

The right questions to ask yourself
  • 1
Which room? — Living room, kitchen, bedroom or entryway do not have the same needs. A pendant light is suitable above a table, a floor lamp in a corner of the living room.
  • 2
What ceiling height? — Low ceiling (< 2.5 m): prioritize ceiling lights or table lamps. High ceiling: long pendant lights and monumental chandeliers make full sense.
  • 3
What interior style? — A light fixture must either harmonize with the rest of the room or create intentional contrast. Both approaches work if they are deliberate.
  • 4
LED or filament bulb? — LED saves energy and lasts longer. A filament bulb creates a warm, amber light ideal for cozy atmospheres.
  • 5
Dimmer compatible? — If you want to adjust the intensity, check that the light fixture is compatible with a dimmer. Specified in each product sheet.

Custom-made and XXL: for large volumes, lofts, or double-height entrance halls, some of our models are available in XXL or custom-made versions. Contact our customer service to discuss feasibility and desired dimensions.

LED compatibility — savings and longevity

The majority of our light fixtures are compatible with standard LED bulbs. Switching to LED means:

Up to 80% savings
An LED bulb equivalent to a 60 W bulb uses only 8 to 10 W. Over 10 years, the savings are significant.
🕰️
10x longer lifespan
An LED bulb lasts an average of 15,000 to 25,000 hours compared to 1,000 for a classic bulb.
🌡️
Light warmth
2,700 K for a warm, amber light (living room, bedroom). 4,000 K for neutral light (office, kitchen).
🔌
Compatible bases
E27, E14, G9, GU10 — compatible bases are specified in each product sheet to avoid any errors.

FAQ — Designer lighting, pendant lights & lamps

What types of lighting does Atelier Atypique offer?
Pendant lights, chandeliers, industrial ceiling lights, table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lights. Each model is selected for its manufacturing quality and unique aesthetic, from industrial to contemporary design, as well as Scandinavian and mid-century styles.
Can I order an XXL or custom-made light fixture?
Yes. Some models like the Memosphere pendant light are available in XXL versions for large volumes, lofts, or double-height entryways. Contact our customer service to discuss feasibility and desired dimensions.
Are the light fixtures compatible with LED bulbs?
Yes, the vast majority of our light fixtures accept standard LED bulbs (E27, E14, G9, GU10). The compatible base type is specified in each product sheet. Choosing LED means reducing your consumption by 80% while benefiting from a 10 times longer lifespan.
How high should a pendant light be installed above a table?
The base of the fixture should be between 70 and 90 cm above the table surface. Too high, the light becomes diffused and loses its effect. Too low, it obstructs the view between guests. For a low ceiling, opt for a short pendant light or a ceiling light.
Can these light fixtures be installed in all rooms?
Yes — living room, dining room, bedroom, office, entryway, or kitchen. For bathroom installation, check the IP protection rating of the model, specified in the technical sheet. Some models are certified for humid environments.
How to choose between a pendant light and a ceiling light?
A pendant is ideal for creating a focal point — above a table, in an entryway, or a living room with a high ceiling. A ceiling light is better suited for low ceilings (under 2.5 m) or spaces where clutter needs to be kept to a minimum, such as hallways and bedrooms.

Find the perfect light fixture to transform your space — a statement pendant, a sculptural lamp, or a timeless chandelier.
